Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PM-SGMBY)

The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) is implementing PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSG: MBY) across the country since February, 2024.

The scheme targets to achieve rooftop solar installations in one crore households in the residential sector by 2026-27. The scheme is demand driven, wherein all residential consumers in the country having grid connected electricity connection of the local DISCOM can avail the benefits of the scheme by applying on the National Portal of the scheme.

As on 12.08.2025, a total of 17,15,823 households have been benefited with installation of rooftop solar under the scheme across the country.

Central Financial Assistance (CFA)

Under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSGMBY), the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy is providing Central Financial Assistance (CFA) to all residential households for setting up of residential Roof top solar at the rate of Rs.30,000/- for 1 KW, Rs. 60,000/- for 2 KW and Rs. 78,000/- for 3 KW and above.
